CLOSE TO THE COAST Textile art workshop

CLOSE TO THE COAST

The title for this workshop has been with me a long time, but it’s only now that I have been able to formalise how I wanted it to work.

Recently I have been attempting to make my stitched landscapes more abstract. It has to be said without much success. I turned to Pinterest for some inspiration and did a search. It made me laugh when some of my own work showed up. Seeing these pieces reminded me of how much I had enjoyed making them, and more importantly, how sharing the processes I had used to make them would make a great workshop.

The truth is the processes I used are deceptively simple and can yield great results.

I know that the colours that I chose to do in these, do not reflect the grey skies that I more often than not see from my window here in my corner of South Wales, but the marks and shapes, and traces of my walks and time spent at the beach, are all there.

Recently, someone at one of my workshops paid me the most amazing a compliment by saying,

“ I don’t know where the places Deborah creates are, but I want to go there.”

Would you like to learn how to create your own atmospherics seascapes?

Read on to find out how.

I will be teaching you ways to add those focal points that add life to a landscape, as well as demonstrating how layering auxiliary fabrics, add depth and structure to a piece.
