Five years

Yesterday I realised that it has been five years since my book was published. If you follow me on social media you might already know this.

I remember the date clearly because it is my Dad’s birthday. I’d been told it would be published early March so it came as a surprise. I was teaching in Cornwall at the time and learnt that it had become available when a friend messaged me about the copy that she had pre-ordered. It was such a lovely complementary message, which is all the more meaningful to me now, as sadly she is no longer with us.

YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT THE BOOK HERE

I am very proud of the book. It was at times a bit of a battle with my editor. He wanted to take a photo of my hands threading a needle for example and I had to stamp my foot about a few things like that. I wasn’t overly keen on the title either but it did mean that it gave me the chance to make lots of pieces to go into it. Something I wouldn’t have managed if I had been making bigger pieces.

It shows you how to get started in painting your own fabrics to use in quilts and textile art pieces

It also includes lots of my favourite techniques that can be used on any size quilt.

It is a tool to help you to get the ideas in your head onto the fabric. Even if you don’t want to paint your own cloth.

It also has lots of samples with detail of which techniques in the book were used. It has a couple of step by step projects and templates that you can use to make your Small Art Quilt.

If you already have a copy, a huge THANK YOU.

I can’t tell you how much the response and feedback I have had about this book over the past five years means to me. It has been overwhelming.

Finally, if you would like to learn more from me, I have a number of in-person workshops now planned for 2025, and if you want to further your fabric painting skills then come join me in my membership.
