It All Starts With An Idea
Back when I was a regular blogger I toyed with the idea of creating and online resource library of how to paint different fabrics. Time and my own lack in technical know-how meant that this did not get very far. However times have changed and so has the world. More people are open to learning online than ever before and I began to realise that I could now bring that idea to fruition.
FABRIC : PAINT : STItCH
My aim is to dispel the belief that what I do is difficult and takes years to achieve. Yes, as with anything, practise makes perfect, but I know that fabric painting is both easy and doable. It’s also a very enjoyable process with scope for play and experimentation. A piece of fabric, paint and some water ends in wonderful results created by your own hands.
If you join me I will show you how you can transform your skill set and demystify the experience of colouring your own cloth. I will share the basic techniques that will act as a framework for all your future creations in fabric and stitch.
You will get to see everything in my process, including colour mixing, techniques and approach. You will be able to take everything that you have learnt and apply it to your own work. You will create a collection of your own unique cloth that will result in authentic pieces of textile art.
The aim is build an on going resource that will also include looking at the different paints available, as well as investigation and experimentation in other media as it relates to colouring fabric. Along with this also included will be a look behind the scenes and my processes in design and stitch.
I am also looking to build a community of like minded creative people. This membership will be open to beginners as well as those who are further along the path. There will be a private Facebook page for those that would like to share what they have been doing, or looking for some feedback, but this is optional. We are all different in the way we learn and they way we interact and my aim is to welcome all in a safe and nuturing space.
