MY WORLD IS GREEN
I have been looking at my green quilts lately, and thinking about how green quilts has a dual meaning these days.
This one falls into the green quilt category. It was made during Covid. It was my meditation cloth. It helped me to navigate my way through those troubling times, while also allowing me to vent some of my frustrations.
It was stitched onto a mop up cloth from a painting session. I could see roses within the marks made by the paint. After stencilling a green shoot and stamping the words, I stitched around each motif.
From a distance the word GREEN is very visible, but you have get in closer to see the I WANT A and RECOVERY.
I like the fact that sometimes you have to look a bit closer to see the true meaning of something.
Experimentation with fabric painting techniques resulted in the next two pieces.
This one came about while I was watching the Tour De France one Summer before we set off for our own trip to France.
Obviously they only apply to the colour green.
This piece has taken inspiration from the common that surrounds the area I live.
Lastly, this piece was made for an exhibition as part of my Landshapes and Linescapes series.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at there pieces. Have you made any green or green quilts.
Let me know in the comments below.
The reason I have been thinking about green quilts is because I have put together a new workshop called Green and Pleasant Land.
