GREEN AND PLEASANT LAND
This is a two day course taking place on Saturday/Sunday -17/18th MAY 2025
The venue is Wick Village Hall, Church Street, Wick, Vale of Glamorgan CF71 7QF.
THIS IS FOR YOU, IF YOU are inspired by LANDSCAPES, and want to celebrate them in your own TEXTILE art quilt.
THIS IS FOR YOU, IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF TEXTILE ART TECHNIQUES AND ARE READY TO TAKE YOUR QUILTS TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
what to expect?
Two days of relaxed and interesting creative play.
Good food and good company.
A welcoming, stress free environment.
A chance to learn new techniques, or to improve on those you already know.
This workshop will be about abstracting the landscape.
Whenever we decide to interpret something in fabric, we begin to abstract what we see.
This workshop will push that idea, while embracing the techniques of patchwork, whether it be pieced, layered or fused.
It will focus on simplifying, while thinking about ways to interpret the emotions that landscapes envoke.
Your completed piece might be a large quilt made up of strips and blocks.
maybe you will work on a number of smaller pieces that have the look and feel of a traditional landscape.
N.B. The use of green is not compulsory.
-There will be demonstrations and discussions about the techniques I use.
-There will be patterns and samples to follow, if you want to use them.
-You will receive encouragement and help to create your own designs.
-You will be provided with lots of inspiration.
THERE IS NO FABRIC PAINTING ELEMENT TO THIS WORKSHOP FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS
I am trying to be more eco-conscious and I no longer want to order large quantities of fabric and paint.
I also want to encourage you to use what you have.
This allows more time to spend stitching and completing your piece.
Should you be disappointed about the loss of the fabric painting day, anyone who enrols in this workshop will given free access to my online library of fabric painting videos for two months prior to the workshop.
